Dr. Anne Barlow Ramsay Award for U.S.-Bred Horses

FEI/High Performance Dressage

Anne Barlow Ramsay Award

The Dr. Anne Barlow Ramsay Award was established in 2024 in Dr. Barlow Ramsay's memory by her daughter, Barbara Cadwell. One $5,000 Award will be presented annually to the highest-placing U.S.-Bred horse in the Developing Prix St. Georges or Prix St. Georges at the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions, Dressage at Devon, and HITS Del Mar National Show.  At each show, the Award will be split between the owner of the horse ($2,500) and the horse's breeder ($2,500).

Dr. Barlow Ramsay was a horsewoman for over fifty years and owned Annie B Farm, a sport horse breeding operation, with her daughter, Barbara Cadwell. Dr. Barlow Ramsay and her horse, Fridjoff, proudly rode for membership into The Dressage Foundation’s Century Club in 2003 as Team #27. Dr. Barlow Ramsay’s dream to advance equestrian sport took shape in 1998 when she established a Charitable Remainder Unitrust at The Dressage Foundation. She wanted to provide financial backing for a designated horse and rider with a ten-year income stream. Through this Unitrust, there have been many beneficiaries.

The sport of dressage continues to benefit through annual $25,000 grants to support upper-level training and competition for American-bred horses. The funds from Dr. Barlow Ramsay’s first Unitrust were used so successfully by the earlier grant recipients, that in 2009, she established a second Unitrust with The Dressage Foundation to extend the impact of her grants for many years to come.
